​Living salt is the whole sea salt; the crystal and the seawater, solid and liquid in a glass jar.

The microscopic algae, such as Dunaliella Salina and halophilic archaea are responsible for the reddish hue of the salt and the salt flats, as it is a prolific producer of carotenoids, especially beta-carotene. 

The living salt is formed on a small island miles away from continental land and is contained in glass immediately after harvesting.
