Blue Persian Mountain Salt

From the Northern Province of Semnan in what was once Persia, comes one of the oldest and rarest salts found on Earth as well as one of the cleanest and purest salts, as it come from oceans that have dried up more than 200 million years ago, and free of any contamination. Mined here since the time of Alexander the Great some 2,400 years ago, the specks of blue in this salt are created by an optical illusion caused by the high compression of the mineral Sylvite. However, the finer you grind the salt the less blue is found in the salt.

Sylvite naturally fossilizes thanks to very specific climatic and atmospheric conditions of altitude, pressure and humidity.

Persian blue salt contains sodium chloride and potassium chloride, and small traces of copper and cobalt salts.

With only about 100 tons of this salt that is produced per year, it is one of the rarest salts.
Lower than most salts in Sodium Chloride (NaCl) it has a strong presence of potassium.

Bolivian Pink Mountain Salt, Bolivia

A layer of volcanic lava covered this beautiful mild flavored, rose colored salt millions of years ago preserving it from pollution and thus allowing its pure taste to shine through. Hand-harvested and processed high up in the Andes Mountains using the same methods that have been used for centuries, Bolivian salt is a pure tasting salt with a beautiful rose color. Similar in composition to the more well-known pink Himalayan salt.

Appalachian Ancient Mountain Salt, West Virginia, USA [J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works]

From the remains of the once mighty Iapetus Ocean (estimated to be between 400 and 600 Million years old) that lies deep under the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia, this is a stunning all-natural salt that is naturally high in minerals. The brine is naturally sourced from an ancient, untouched sea called the Iapetus Ocean (predating the Atlantic) trapped below the Appalachian mountains. Our salt is free of contaminants and heavy metals that may be found in other oceans.  Gleaned from the earth by an underground brine aquifer, the salt is then processed naturally using the power of the sun and gentle mountain breezes.  The result is a beautiful crystal salt.

The salt making of this Appalachian salt is a unique and innovative process, completed by hand without the use of big machinery and additives.  We work to enhance the natural properties of the salt, using the power of the earth and hand-made tools to produce an extraordinarily pure product.

Anatolian Mountain Salt, Turkey

This mineral-rich salt was produced from an 800-year-old mine located in the small Anatolian town of Tuz Köy.
This ancient salt is completely natural, contains no additives and is unrefined.
Extracted from untouched salt beds, Anatolian Rock Salt contains 84 trace minerals naturally found in the human body. The underground mines of Tuz Village have a history of approximately 500 million years.

During the Seljuk Empire, the salt masses extracted from these galleries were brought to the palace kitchen by camels and used to sweeten the palace meals.

German Mountain Salt

The ancient, natural rock salt was created more than 200 million years ago by the dehydration of the Zechstein Sea.

Today, it is stored underground at a depth of 400-750m and still contains numerous accompanying minerals, as well as of course bound iodine.

The rock salt is mined in salt mines in southern Germany. It is a 100% natural product, which is only ground and sieved.
